We're rowing in the same boat!
Over the past 56 years, our boat has made more than ten thousand trips between Csepel Island and Angyalisziget (in Hungarian this literally means angelic island). Often, we the Bús family, were not the only ones in the boat: there were close and distant relatives, friends and neighbours as well. Winnie-the-Pooh’s Rabbit might come to mind.
Our door has always been open, because our fundamental idea and experience is that being together is good!
The goal of the foundation established in 2021, is to align this “Angyali experience” with the growth of our family and guests, our practical desires, and soaring imagination.

Our Story
Our history on the island goes back almost 60 years
Our great-grandmother bought a plot of land in 1967 for her daughter and son-in-law. Back then, the land only had leftover corn stalks from the previous year, nothing more.
Our grandparents, Jenő Bús and his wife, Memi, helped develop the plot with their family and friends.
In the last 60 years, the island has seen their 3 children raised, 18 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren come and go, and more than a thousand guests in one way or another.
There are many stories dear to us to which we wanted to dedicate some attention on the website.
About the Foundation
The purpose of the Angyalisziget Family Foundation founded in 2021, is to handle the Angyali experience as a family, within a legal framework.
This is how the originally privately owned plots jointly became part of the foundation. Current members are 17 cousins, three parents and our grandfather. This is a unique - and in Hungarian terms - unusual solution. We felt that this was the best way to be the custodians of this legacy.
Functions
A hagyaték ápolása
Az épületek, eszközök, a kert és a partszakasz fenntartása. Ezeket a feladatokat saját erőből látják el az alapítvány tagjai.
Családi szokásaink, hagyományaink és legendáink ápolása és továbbadása a következő generációknak.
A vízió megvalósítása
Célunk az egész telek, kiemelten az épületegyüttes és a partok újraálmodása: még több belső "játszós" helyszínnel, úgy, hogy mi és vendégeink az aktuális kényelmi, praktikus és esztétikai szempontok és vágyaink mentén még jobban érezzük magunkat az Angyalin. A nyári fürdőszezonban, tavaszi íváskor, őszi csónakázós hangulatban vagy a befagyott Dunát ünnepelve.
Az élmény megélése Veletek
Eseményeket, spontán hétvégék, nagyrendezvények együtt. Előttünk felsejlik a karitatív és élménytáborok képe. Úgy érezzük, hogy a társaságunkon túl a magyarországi viszonylatban különleges csónakos tavi szigetkultúra ás szigetélmény bemutatása majdhogynem kötelesség.
Project 516
The next step is right ahead of us. The plot bordering the existing estate to the North is for sale (marked in green), currently owned by our kind and long-term neighbour. „For sale once every 100 years”, we like to say. So, we have the opportunity to purchase until the end of October. There are other interested parties, so this may be a once-in-a-generation opportunity.
As part of Project 516, the following will be completed by 2025

A stylish house with three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a living room

A light-structure co-working space, with four workstations

A renovated jetty suitable for fishing, and romance
Why is this important?
· The new building will be more suitable for stays with children
· The house and the co-working space will be available for rent in certain parts of the year, which will generate income for further developments
· The increased width of the estate (see image) enables a series of new and exciting ideas. As the fence disappears from between the plots, the festive atmosphere, herds of children, rodents and chi may circulate more freely.
· There are also many fantastic possibilities in the redesign of the double waterfront space. Water playground, Steiner-style river beach, a wider area for verdant aquatic plant-life, a beach grill and the list goes on.
How can you participate?
The members of the Foundation were able to raise a significant part of the asking price, now we turn to our extended family and friends to reach the 20-million-forint mark.
To buy the land, we need an additional 5 million forints by the middle of October. To raise this amount we initiated a fundraiser campaign. You can contribute any amount to our goal, because every penny counts.
